The Central Oregon Intergroup has a 24 hour Hotline! All hands on deck!

We are updating the 12-Step call list with those qualified and willing to go on requested 12-Step calls. Please ask the Hotline Rep at your home group to sign you up to be on this list! They have a sign up sheet and we need volunteers for this vitol 12-Step work! It looks like this: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/13waTW-V-3qDw5puRmuInqktkgyHLJzOc-SFLGEwQV_o/edit?usp=sharing
What is a 12-Step Call? A 12-Step call is when A.A. members talk to another alcoholic about their drinking.  This is an important part of the recovery process for many. Generally, an individual or group sits or speaks with somebody suffering from alcoholism in order to help them find recovery. Much like the 12-Step call Bill W. made to Dr. Bob on Mothers Day 1935. It could also be anything from taking someone a Big Book and a newcomer packet, taking someone to a meeting or even taking someone to the hospital for detox. Sometimes it is as simple as a phone call and inviting someone to meet you at your Home Group. Here discernment, discretion and experience are necessary in this type of 12-Step work.

“A.A. is more than a set of principles; it is a society of recovered alcoholics in action.” – Bill W. A.A. Comes Of Age pg 139

If your Home Group does not have a Hotline Rep please consider electing someone at your next business meeting. See service position description here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1LQ-tBJlhVB0Uw624wjRypQ4Qemy8W2-v_sSPHvEzcWs/edit?usp=sharing This allows your home group to fulfill their responsibility by taking part in the local 12-Step work by taking one or more shifts a week answering calls that get forwarded to a member or members phone when someone calls the Central Oregon Intergroup A.A. Hotline looking for help with their drinking. Then make sure they attend the next Hotline Committee meeting and pick up a shift.  There are plenty of shifts available! Training is available.
